January 6th, 2010: John "Pictures for Sad Children" Campbell is doing hourly comics again! Every hour he does a short two-panel comic about that hour, and he's doing it ALL MONTH. They're great even if you're not stalking John Campbell!

quick rundown of my vacation back east:

ashley stayed at my apartment sunday night.
the next morning, i ran some errands around asheville. then met with T at the Standard Pizza company for a Calzone.
Got into Greenville about 7, went over to Brandi's. After leaving there I got a call from Ashley Pierce saying she was in the Art building. I went and had a beer with her there.
Met with my mother at Chico's about 9:30. Got home and watched the Muppet Christmas Carol with Mike Caine..
Tuesday afternoon, I met with Ronald at Little J's Subs. We caught up with Shamar. And I went to Food Lion for my mom to pick up some odds and ends.
I watched Up in the Air with Mom.
That night I went to Christies with Rachel and her roommates.
Wednesday I went to my dad's in Rocky Mount about noonish, and caught up with bro mike and his cousins. We played a little bit of PS3, then we left to pick up Matthew at the airport. that night they thought it'd be a good idea to jump into the 40degree pool. I didn't think it'd be wise, so i didn't. we had spaghetti for dinner.
Thursday morning, we (Dad, Matthew, and myself) went down to Fayetteville to visit Carl and my new Niece Ava. She's adorable as expected. When I got back to Rocky Mount I left to go back to Ayden to be with my mom a little bit on New Years Eve.
We cooked a pizza.
Then I went over to Christies. As I was getting there Brandi, Britt, and Coby were all leaving to go to the Tipsy Teapot. I had intentions to go over there later. But I had just ordered a beer. I saw my friend Bobby and sat with him. He was there with his girlfriend and one other girl. A guy was trying to hollar at this girl, but she wasn't feeling it. And eventually he left. She said, "good thing he's gone". This invited me to talk to her. So I ended up chatting with her for the rest of the night. About 11:45, I decided I wasn't drunk enough. I had bought tequila earlier in the evening and had left it in my car. I'm a thinker! So I go out in my car and quickly have two shots. However the second shot did not get received well in my system. And I blow chunks all over my seat, the steering wheel, and myself in the parking lot! It's 11:50, ten minutes before the new year and I say to myself "this will NOT ruin my night". I go inside, go quickly into the bathroom, clean myself up slightly, gargle some water, and head back to my seat. At this point Bobby and his girlfriend are looking all cute and the poor girl was sitting so sadly by herself. I was provided with a perfect opportunity. Needless to say, I was able to have New Years Kiss. I was able to go back outside to my car and sorta clean my mess that I had made. When I woke the next morning at her place and got back out to my car, I noticed that I hadn't done a very good job. There were still chunks everywhere.
I had my first one night stand. I never thought I'd be that kinda guy. We exchanged phone numbers and I told her to keep in touch. But this is what I needed to get over Moriah. One of the discussions I had with this girl was about how guys in today's society get more attached than females do. And it's true. Especially in the case with me and Moriah. I think that situation should have only been a one night, one week, one month kinda thing but I tried to stretch it into a relationship. EVEN THOUGH I KNEW it wasn't supposed to be! I knew in the long run it was going nowhere.
I got to my mom's house about 9:30. Then Matthew made his way over and We all went over to Grandma's. We had a nice dinner. That night we watched Peggy Sue Got Married.
Saturday we ate breakfast with Grandma. Carl and Ava showed up just in time to eat with us. Then we headed back to Greenville and watched the Liberty Bowl with Dad at the Pirate's Den.
Sunday morning I woke up at 6, that early because i had to be at work by 2, made it on the road by 7, go to Asheville by 12:30, took a nap, got a call about 1:45 saying "we are slow, don't bother coming in". D'oh! And it's the only time I'm on the schedule!!!
so now I'm in Asheville not doing a damn thing. I could have spent one more day with my brother.
Since being here I was able to hang out with T, Shauna and Trippe, Richard (who is on tour), Emilee, and Vince. I was able to go to a house show. Eat at Waffle House. See the Road and Sherlock Holmes. So I guess I have found some things to do.

January 4th, 2010: My pal Ben Tippett (who you remember from his scientific inquiry into the source of Superman's powers) and I were talking about the simulated universe idea the other day, and he was arguing that a 1:1 simulation of a universe wouldn't work. But then I said it doesn't have to be 1:1, you can only simulate the important parts, or you could reduce the resolution of the simulation - Duke Nukem can't leave the rooms that have been built for him, also Duke Nukem doesn't have agency or a human soul, that sort of thing. Then he was the one who proposed that future generations are trying to figure out where I, Ryan North, history's greatest villain, buried the bodies!

So this is me giving credit to Ben and telling everyone that I'LL NEVER TELL WHERE THE BODIES ARE BURIED, ONCE I BURY THEM, WHICH HASN'T HAPPENED YET IN THIS SIMULATION, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, ANYWAY, THEY'RE MINE

New Year!

Today marks the second time in two weeks one of my friends told me to go to another country and find me a woman who speaks no english, marry her and settle down. Odd. I am gonna take my friend back home today, he had to stay at my place last night because he flew in late and I did not want to drive a three hour drive last night to take him home. Fun times. He is lucky I was not late picking him up as I was deeply engrossed in a Transformers Marathon, not that Michael Bay crap, but some original cartoon. Nearly done with season one. Tomorrow I will begin setting up all my transfer and moving dates. Should be interesting as I am also shipping a vehicle this time. At least I think I will be. Provided all the repairs and maintenance are completed on schedule and nothing happens in between I will be good to go. I am all about packing light these days, something I learned recently about a month ago. Only the essentials for me these days. Anything that can go in a box and the movers will pack and move for me, will be shipped. I am a little worried about going home on vacation as the violence in Chicago has increased so much in recent months. I have been gone enough to officially be a tourist when I go back. Plus I will have no transportation this time and it has been quite q while since I have been bussing and training in the USA. I am looking forward to doing some cooking at home but I am very worried my family has not changed at all since I have left, which is not a bad thing. I might actually be seeing lots of people I am either looking forward to seeing or have not seen in a million years. Might be great or disastrous. Who knows. Maybe I should just go to Japan and take my vacation there. Thats all for now.

Wow, 2010, it seems quite amazing... I mean, it was just 2000. Time runs, it certainly runs. But anyway around. At least we had snow this time around~

January 1st, 2010: This is the last of my MINI CHRISTMAS VACATION, and the last of the Klassik Komicks! I said I'd be back today but I forgot it was a holiday, so I'll be back Monday. I hope everyone had an awesome New Year's Eve and has an awesome 2010 as well! AWESOMNESS FOR EVERYONE, that's what I say!

Have fun, everyone, and thank you for making 2009 one of my best years ever. It's still amazing that I get to do this comic instead of having a real job, and it's all thanks to you guys.

Everyone's putting retrospectives of 2009 up but 2009 seriously feels short to me. To me it was:

A Midsummer Night's Dream
Distinction
Up
District 9
Inglorious Basterds
Ghost Tour
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Applications
Today

Somewhere in there I got to see Dave Attell and David Cross do stand-up. And I got some new shirts.

All that matters

I have come to the conclusion that the only mathematics worth a damn are theoretical physics and cooking. Theoretical mathematics are useful also.
